BENEFITING: STUPID CANCER
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor earlier this year. This was a huge shock, I thought I was too young, strong and healthy to have cancer. However, the truth is young adults account for nearly 72,000 new cancer diagnoses each year. Crazy! Luckily I had extremely supportive family and friends to get me through such a tough time. Unfortunately, a lot of young adult cancer patients aren’t as lucky as I was and need to find emotional and financial support for something they didn’t think they would encounter so soon in life. However, with young adults being such an underserved population in the cancer world, a lot of these resources are not easily available to them.
Luckily, Stupidcancer.org was founded in 1995 to help with these issues. Stupid Cancer is a the largest non profit organization in North America that helps to empower young adults fighting cancer with programs and services that provide financial, emotional, and social support to get young adults back busy living.
In addition to my birthday this year, I would like to give back to an organization that is close to my heart and I am asking you all to join me in this effort. We will be celebrating at Jet’s Public House, where they have been extremely kind enough to donate a portion of the wristband deal to this organization. I also have set up this fundraising page. You can donate here if you would like instead or if you can’t make it or if you just want to give more J Any donation is appreciated more than you know.
