BENEFITING: COMMUNITY & SCHOOLS MEDIA PARTNERSHIP INC
EVENT DATE: Jul 13, 2013
This event has four goals --
1. Have fun.
2. Showcase some good local food.
3. Promote local businesses.
4. Put on a well-attended event where lots of local njon-profits can raise money and awareness of their cause.
The day begins with the 5k-ish Sugartown Challenge -- a fun run through Old Town Los Alamtos over and through tires and haystacks, walking dead wanna-be's and many more obstacles. Local non-profits raise money by signing up runners -- for each runner they sign up, they keep $20. Sign up 50 runners and a non-profit not only makes $1000 for themselves -- they qualify to compete in four other competitions where they can make more money for their cause. Those events are:
1)The Non-Profit Karaoke Klassic;
2) Non-Profit High Heel Relay;
3) Youth group Balloon Toss Relay;
4) the Chef's Sugar Beet Showcase.
The the money we raise through Crowdrise will be spread among the prize pools for these four events.
All qualifying non-profits who enter will earn:
-- split 50% of the prize pool just by participating
-- the final four will split 25%.
-- 2nd place earns 10% for their non-profit
-- the champion earns an additional 15%.
Each event will have a $10,000 max prize. Any additional monies raised will go into a pool that will be used to provide prizes for best booth, most volunteers, etc and for post-event grants.
The overall event is hosted by the Community & Schools Media Partnership, which provides video coverage of local community, youth and sporting events for the community television stations. But the money raised in this campaign will go into the overall pool to be dispersed to all area non-profits who participate and help make the festival a good one.
