There is nothing more tragic than losing a loved one.  It is even more devastating when that loved one’s life is lost to suicide.  There are so many painful questions for those left behind and too few if any answers. Many in our community are shocked to learn that Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties exceed the rate of New York State in completed suicides.  We must do more to prevent these tragedies, provide hope and solutions for those in crisis and support their families.

At Behavioral Health Services North (BHSN), we have been devoted to raising suicide awareness and providing prevention services since we were established in 1999.  In 2006 due to funding provided by the State of New York through the advocacy of Senator Betty Little, we received funding to administer a suicide hotline for Clinton County.  Today the funds for this critical service are dwindling.
