I'm running the 2011 ING NYC Marathon and I'm SUPER excited and THRILLED to be running this year and for a wonderful charity called Lend-A-Hand India. I need to raise $2620 by November 31st. I would greatly appreciate your donations and I look forward to sharing my experience and photos with you all. Here is abit of information about the charity and cause that I chose to run for...I know I'll be inspired to run 26.3 and hope that you can help support me in my endeavor.
Lend A Hand India (LAHI) provides vocational training to young boys and girls from rural India. Currently, working with government aided high schools in the remote villages in three states, LAHI runs a three year job and life skills training program in 61 villages reaching more than 10,000 youth. The program has been formally recognized by government of Maharashtra as part of the curriculum.
LAHI recruits local trade practitioners (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, agriculturists etc) to teach trade skills at local high schools for one a day week for three years, making the high school education much more practical and relevant. The impact of this model has been outstanding-- over 25% of the students are now getting admission to much sought after higher technical education, positively impacting attendance, and school drop out rates at the same time empowering girl students as well.
Thank you in advance.
