THE STORY:

From Those Who Have To Those Who Have Not

Problem and Need Statement

Did you know that 3.5 million people experience homelessness in America? On any given night approximately seven hundred and fifty thousand men, women and children are homeless in America. As these numbers consistently increase due to current economic turmoil, many homeless shelters have began to charge nightly rates. This fee, normally ranging from five to six dollars a night, is seen by most as a small and worthy cost, but to those who must either pay this fee or sleep on the streets it is a colossal fee. Homeless persons are in critically need of a service program which will assist them in paying those nightly rates.

Mission

Our mission as an organization is to engage and educate the public of the many social and economic issues faced by developed nations and create service programs to assist the people and families that are faced with those issues. If we as an organization sit by and blindly allow this problem to advance we fail our own mission. In order to combat this problem we are launching the “From Those Who Have To Those Who Have Not” campaign.

Goal and Contributions

The goal of this campaign is to raise a total of five thousand dollars. This money will be used to provide the homeless with vouchers for free nights in homeless shelters across the nation. You can contribute to this campaign through a cash, check or money order donation in any amount. Please be sure to make all checks and money orders payable to the SUMAC Foundation, Inc.
