I almost never used to remember my dreams. In fact, it actually used to upset me when friends or family members would start to recap one of their own enchanted sleeping experiences. I didn’t value my own, and apparently didn’t feel it was worthwhile to be witness to another’s. Much later, I purchased books on practical dream-work and brainwave analysis. I was determined to understand and “fix” my super-vision problem.
I’ve long-since abandoned the heady approach to harnessing Mystery. Through intention, attention and a release of expectations, I am regularly receiving and recalling my time spent in the depths. It is no less chaotic, no more logical than before. Just consistent... As I learn to listen, so I am spoken to.
I want to thank you for listening to me. For creating the space to read this letter, and feel me as you do.
It is with great excitement and a slight bit of anxiety that I write this appeal. As you may know, I’ve shifted my professional focus into the sphere of coaching and mentoring young men through the unique stage of adolescence. I can confidently say that I have found the center of gravity for my life’s work; yet I am still burdened by a discomfort in requesting your help. This is both a personal and societal issue in my eyes, as I relate to the other people in my life who have ever felt isolated or averse to asking for support.
With these words, I choose to transcend this barrier toward a more beautiful future for all of us.
For the past few months I’ve been training with a truly world-changing organization, Rite of Passage Journeys. By encouraging us to “Get Out and Go Within”, since 1968 Journeys has been mentoring youth, adults, and elders through life transitions, initiating soulful leaders. I was accepted into their Mentor Training Program, which will culminate in late June in a two-week wilderness Rite of Passage trek for 12-15 year-old boys. I’ve also been graciously invited to attend workshops spanning a range of related topics, such as Coming of Age in Community, Creating Sacred Spaces, and Introduction to Council in Nature.
As part of my commitment to the organization, and especially as a scholarship recipient myself, I am now asking for your help to reach our fundraising goal for these boys this summer.
Using Crowdrise (a crowdfunding site) I’ve set a new STRETCH goal of $2,222 to be raised amongst my closest tribe, and I would be honored and deeply grateful to have you contribute toward this cause. Your support enables me to refine my skills and broaden my experience, as well as provide the foundation for transformational change in our young people, within our communities, and across the globe.
Insight. Vision. Creating the best world we can imagine.... I feel so blessed to be tapped into my own inspiration once again, as it can be all-too-easy for us to lose sight of the source in modern society. Let us call in a generation of leaders who are encouraged to listen to their own dreams and act with love in their hearts. And let us always support each other in our greatest endeavors. Together, anything is possible.
With love, gratitude and appreciation for all that you do and are,
