BENEFITING: Terra Farm Sanctuary
For Terra Farm Sanctuary, providing a safe environment for sheep, goats, donkeys and roosters who have been abused, neglected and abandoned is a labor of love, and we are thankful to our volunteers and supporters, without whom doing what we do, would not be possible.
2016 was our fledgling year, and one of initial growth. We expanded our ruminant house and added a feeding room, and 1/4-acre yard, and we built a donkey enclosure with windowed wind block. We brought in 2 sheep; survivors of a dog attack, one of whom lost her leg, and now has a wheeled cart, 6 goats, rescued from the dairy industry and breeding farms, and two donkeys aged 18 and 23, who had been used unsuccessfully for breeding, and were subsequently left alone to pasture for 15 years. all of these individuals will be cherished; they will receive continuing care, and will reside at Terra for the rest of their natural lives.
The weather is starting to warm and your help is needed this summer! After winter has taken its toll on the shelters and supplies, it is time to repair and replenish! We ask for your assistance in helping us with hay, feed, and routine vet care for our family, as well as building materials, and fencing so that we may provide for more individuals in need. All of our family members will have their yearly "physicals" during the summer as well as regular hoof care, dental exams, and supplements/medications. Most of the beings at Terra eat hay, and lots of it, we go through approximately one ton per month! We are completing a new rooster enclosure and we will need to add additional sleeping areas for more birds, we will also be creating an outdoor feeding area for our ruminants, as we are expecting additional goats toward the end of summer.
