I am proud to announce that I have been offered an opportunity to play summer baseball for the Glen Allen Aviators just outside of Richmond, VA for the summer of 2016. The Aviators play in the Commonwealth Collegiate League which is a new league full of talented collegiate baseball players from all levels (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JuCo). Summer baseball leagues are very important in college because they allow players to play with players from all across the country as well as allow them to get excellent exposure to major league scouts that they might not get where their college is located. That being said, this is a very important step for my baseball career in terms of exposure and experience. As many of you may know, I play baseball for Hastings College in Hastings, NE. It is a fairly small town of 25,000 and an even smaller school of roughly 1,200 students. Playing in the Commonwealth Collegiate League would be a great opportunity for me to experience the east coast and some of the talent on that side of the country as well as gain exposure outside of where I am located now playing in Nebraska. This decision is not only a baseball decision but a life decision. Family is very important to me and this opportunity was too good to pass up in that aspect as well. My father Richard’s brother and sister live very close to Richmond. Seeing as I have never met them in my 20 years of life, I thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to meet them and see their neck of the woods and for them to watch me play the game I have loved since I was 4. I have never been anywhere east of Missouri and as much as I love to travel, going to play on the East Coast would be a great opportunity for that. The fee for this summer league is $800 I will be living with a host family but there are other expenses involved. I have to travel 3600 miles round trip, will have gas and hotel expenses during that trip, I need to supply some food and incidentals for 2 and 1/2 months and I am also not going to be able to work during the summer as I have for the last 3 summers. This is the money I have used to support myself during my first two years of college. All told I am looking to raise $4500 to cover everything. I am asking you, all our friends and family, to help in any way possible to help me pursue this opportunity and help me grow as not only a baseball player but as a person. I am blessed with this opportunity and with all of you in my life so please consider helping me pursue this opportunity to expose myself on the baseball diamond and as a person. Please visit my website If we succeed I will be updating my website throughout the season. Thank you in advance
