BENEFITING: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
Summertime can be hell for "outdoor dogs." When torrential summer storms hit, these dogs may have nowhere to stay dry. When the sweltering heat becomes too much to bear, they may have nowhere to find shade. For a dog confined to a pen or chained outside without shelter, the heat and raging storms of summer are more than just miserable—they can also be life-threatening.
Help People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) make a difference for "outdoor dogs" this summer. Join us by creating your own fundraising page and asking your friends and family to pitch in to help us build a doghouse this summer!
The cost of building and delivering a doghouse, making visits, and supplying medical care to an "outdoor dog" is only $265, but these actions are priceless to dogs who desperately need relief from the long days spent suffering under a blazing sun.
In addition to building doghouses, your support will help PETA provide dogs with a collar that fits, rather than biting into their neck, as well as a lightweight, tangle-free tie-out to replace their heavy chain.
Your support will also help us treat them for fleas, ticks, flystrike, and ear mites—conditions that neglected "outdoor dogs" frequently suffer from during warm weather.
PETA doghouses are built to last, with each one designed to give a neglected dog some shelter from summer heat and frigid winter weather for years to come. Help us build doghouses this summer and make a tremendous difference in the life of a dog in need.
How It Works
Step 1: Sign up to build a doghouse.
Step 2: Get your family and friends to pitch in to raise the $265 needed. Once you've registered and created your doghouse page, share it with friends and family in person or through e-mail or social media.
Step 3: PETA will use your support to build a doghouse and deliver it to a dog in need.
Step 4: Repeat! For every doghouse we deliver, there are still hundreds of lonely "outdoor dogs" who haven't received one yet—and they need help now!
Make a Difference—Tag's Story
Every contribution, no matter how much, makes a real difference for dogs like Tag (pictures in the slideshow).
When we first spotted him, the only shelter that Tag had was a plastic barrel lying among broken pieces of cinder block and filthy, discarded blankets. It didn't provide him with any relief from the scorching summer sun or the driving rain that soaked him with every passing storm.
Tag's life changed when our fieldworkers delivered a sturdy new PETA doghouse to help protect him from intense summer storms and provide him with shade during the worst heat of the day.
If you're hot, they're hot. This summer, help us build doghouses and deliver them to lonely dogs who need our help.
Recordbreaking, scorching summer heat and violent thunderstorms are real threats to dogs confined to pens or chained outside. Without your help, some of these dogs may not make it through the summer.
