Last year, nearly 60 million people around the world were displaced from their homes because of war, conflict, or persecution, and the Syrian people accounted for roughly 11 million of them. Millions of Americans and citizens worldwide are contributing to the cause, including Summit! The philanthropy committee is hosting a company fundraiser to support the International Rescue Committee, which helps displaced families rebuild their lives in America and around the world.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global humanitarian aid, relief, and development nongovernmental organization. In its own words, the IRC "responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.”
We will be raising funds from Monday, February 13th through Tuesday, February 28th. You can make your donation anonymous (if you choose to do so), but do not forget to designate your directorate when donating.
To encourage participation (and friendly competition), we will award a trophy and extra jeans week to the Directorate that donates the most to the cause, and a cupcake party to the Directorate that has the most individual donations.
Lastly, we would like to welcome all participants to join us for a celebratory happy hour on Tuesday, February 28th at Summit. Drinks and small snacks will be provided.
