This is a fundraiser to support the education of the children of Aldea El Hato, Guatemala in 2015. Las Manos de Christine supplements the village school programs by providing an after school library, art classes, tutoring, English classes, and programs in early childhood education, health and nutrition. In addition, we hope to provide support for the children with special needs and for our teen students who will be graduating and transitioning to either the work force, highschool, and maybe for a few, college in 2015. Both the teachers and students are excited about the new year, and we need your support to help make it all happen!
We will hold a marathon of Sun Salutations as a fun way to fund-raise and bring our international community of friends together. We are choosing to do 108 Sun Salutes because this number holds special meaning and tradition in the yoga world (a half or quarter marathon is also acceptable). There are several ways to participate, and here they are
1) Sponsor one of our team members by donating, and spread the word to all of your friends!
2) Look for "Sun Salutations for Education" and join our fundraising team on Crowdrise. Choose a date to perform your sun salutes, look for sponsors, and participate in our Sun Salute marathon where ever you are. It doesn't matter what style, what modifications you use, or how many breaks you take. It's your practice! (If you are new to yoga and unfamiliar with the sequence you can find tons of examples on Youtube)
3) Partipate in the marathon by getting a group of friends together or your local yoga studio involved to perform 108 Sun Salutes during the month of November. Spread the word and find people to sponsor you or your team. Look for "Sun Salutations for Education" and join our fundraising team on Crowdrise. This way your sponsors can support you and us online. The more people who participate and spread the word, the more successful we can be.
The El Hato Guatemala team will Salute the Sun on November 11th. Please contact us if you have any questions and thanks for joining us!
