"I watch tv." "My mom makes me clean." "I don't do anything fun." "It's boring."
Sound like what you'd expect from a middle schooler talking about their weekend?
What about this?
"I wish I could go outside to play." "I'd really like if something was planned." "I miss being at school and seeing my friends."
Want to help solve the problem? Support Super Saturdays at the Cornelia Connelly Center!
Cool! But wait, what's a Super Saturday?
One Saturday morning a month, current CCC 5th - 8th graders will return to school for three hours of activities, games, crafts and laughs to help combat that weekend boredom. Managed solely by volunteer mentors, Super Saturdays has the added benefit of connecting students with enthusiastic adults eager to hear their stories.
Hang on, what's the Cornelia Connelly Center?
CCC is an eight-year program on Manhattan's Lower East Side, specifically designed to transform the lives of the city's most vulnerable girls. Through a holistic, middle school education and comprehensive support through high school, CCC's program takes girls previously struggling in a failing public school and gets them to college. Alright I'm sold! How can I help?
Our goal is to raise $500 to fully fund our first Super Saturday. Every donation matters so give what you can and spread the word!
Any excess funds will be used towards the mission delivery of our regular middle school program.
