Superstar Cambodian Girl's Education Fund
Organized by: Rachel Haig
Socheata is from a landmine contaminated village with no running water, no electricity and no high school. Through her handwork and soccer ability, she has had the chance to complete high school in a provincial capital as part of a girls soccer academy, the first in her extended family to do so. She has learned English, become a soccer coach and is first in her class. She wants to become a human rights lawyer to help girls in Cambodia and then to become the first ever female Prime Minister of Cambodia. She wants to study in the US to help her realize her dreams. She has been accepted into Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, but needs help with tuition, food and travel costs.
