BENEFITING: Aim High for High School
EVENT DATE: Jul 12, 2016
THE STORY:
Dear Friends,
Many of you know that I passionately serve on the board of AimHigh, a non-profit organization that provides free summer learning and enrichment programs for low-income middle school students and their teachers in the Bay Area.
Why? Research shows that more than half of the achievement gap between lower- and higher-income youth can be explained by unequal access to summer learning opportunities. AimHigh’s program makes a big difference: 97% of our alumni graduate high school on time and enroll in college, compared to 49% of low-income students nationally.
What’s the problem? AimHigh’s 31st summer starts in just a few weeks and we need help to reach our fundraising goal of $5.1M. We currently have 300 qualified applicants who won’t be able to attend the program this year because we lack the resources.
How can I get involved? Please join me for a visiting day on July 12th at Lick Wilmerding High School to spend a few hours learning more about AimHigh. The program runs for two hours and includes a tour of campus and the opportunity to hear from students, teachers and our staff. Email me at dingraham@gmail.com or visit http://bit.ly/1RuDshL to find out more, or to find alternate dates to visit.
What’s the easiest way to help? If a visiting day isn’t your cup of tea, please help me reach my goal of raising $15,000 before June 6th. All donations will be matched during this time.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Dave Ingraham
