Support Daniel Murray - The Land Bank Destroyed My Home!
Organized by: Detroit Eviction Defense
The Detroit Land Bank demolished Mr. Murray’s home while he still occupied it! 15745 Quincy had been in the Murray family since 1961. In May 2016 the Detroit Land Bank threw all of Mr. Murray’s belongings (including medicine, clothing, family pictures and heirlooms) into a dumpster and a month later demolished his home.
They did all this without following the eviction process and forced Daniel from his home. The Detroit Land Bank currently owns 100,000 properties, the most of any land bank in the country. They say they are not evicting people from occupied homes but here is a clear example of them doing so. How do they justify being able to demolish a home in a month, especially one that someone lives in. It cost over $30,000 to demolish someone's home. That money should be put to keeping people in their homes, not destroying them like they did to Daniel's.
Daniel now faces a legal battle with the Land Bank as well as having no place to live. Anything you could give would go a long way in helping to get back on track after the Land Bank demolished his home.
