November 15, 2016
Please help us raise money for Haiti's Orphans of Hurricane Matthew. This cause is very close to my heart. I served in an Orphanage for four months while in Ecuador and I spent many months living and serving near the border of Haiti while on my mission in the Dominican Republic. I have a deep love for these people and it breaks my heart to see so many in need, especially the children. Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas and one of the poorest countries in the World. Haitian Officials said Sunday that at least 1,000 people have died as a result of Hurricane Matthew and the spread of cholera. Even before the storm, Haiti had around 32,000 orphans, sadly, that number is now significantly rising. An estimated 1 million Haitians were affected and more than 50,000 including children are in immediate need of food, water, shelter, and medical care. Together we can help! Together we can raise money for the children that are now orphaned and struggling to simply survive after the devastation and destruction of Hurricane Matthew.
How to help: On November 5th and 6th, My sister Jennifer Absher and I are running a 10k and Half Marathon challenge at Disneyworld. One week later, on November 12th and 13th, my husband, Chris Deaver and I are running another 10k and Half Marathon challenge at Disneyland. That's 19.3 miles each race. And almost 40 miles total! Between us all it is 77.2 miles! We are asking everyone to please pledge our runs! If everyone pledged only one dollar per mile- It would only take 100 of us to pledge only $40 each to raise $4000 for Haiti. Or pledge all our miles together and we can raise $7000 dollars! 100% of all proceeds raised will go directly to help the Haitian Orphans of Hurricane Matthew. Please help us in supporting the children that are living in such desperate need and pledge today! Give whatever you feel you can give, every penny helps an orphan in dire need!
