I was in a car wreck July 15th and at no fault of my own our life has been completely turned upside down. The other driver ran a red light and our car is now totaled. Although you would think having full coverage insurance and the fact that the other driver was ticketed for the red light that even though the car was totaled there would be nothing to worry about because everything should be covered under insurance and because it was not my fault everything would work out in my favor. WRONG. Because New York is a "no fault" state the other driver seems to be protected by the insurance company. Now we are forced into trying to find a car with no down payment and still owing the other finance company because according to the insurance company they can only pay what the car is worth to the finance company which is less than what we owe. Everywhere we have been requires a down payment. So I am asking for some help. If anyone can do anything even if it is just a few dollars. Everything will help. It is very stressful because this was our only vehicle and the only way for Jeffrey to get to work which is an hour away. So we are in a time crunch to try to raise enough for the down payment not only because it was our only vehicle but also so that he doesn't loose his job that he just got promoted at. We have a rental for until next saturday but the insurance screwed us over with that as well because apparently even if you pay for rental coverage every month with a maximum of 30 days. If your car is totaled that changes to 72 hours because your car is not being repaired. Thankfully we were able to extend the rental for another week to buy us a little more time to get into a vehicle which will be coming out of pocket. However without a down payment it's not looking good. It is amazing to me that someone can run a red light and ruin your life. We were trying to use this car to build our poor credit and we have made our payments on time since we have got it only a year ago (July 8th was our year anniversary with the car). I don't know what good that did us because it isn't helping us now. I am hoping that we could raise enough for the down payment so we can continue on with our life.
