March 23, 2017
EVENT DATE May 31, 2017
THE STORY:
Vanessa Bolin is a strong advocate for climate justice in Virginia and a member of the Cherokee Nation. She has been a water protector at Standing Rock in North Dakota for the past 6 months, where as a paramedic she made an important contribution in the medical tent providing for the needs of the thousands of women, men and children protecting sacred land and water -- and standing on behalf of all us who are concerned about degradation of creation and environmental racism. Vanessa was one of the last water protectors to leave Standing Rock after the eviction.
Please join us as we gather support to help Vanessa transition back to life in Virginia where she plans to contiune to travel, teach and dedicate herself to the resistance.
Whatever you can afford will help!
Currently we are fundraising to provide:
- A short term self-care retreat for Vanessa to process and gather strength
- Housing: We are searching for a small cottage or large room that Vanessa can use as a homebase for the next 6 months in either Richmond or Varina. email: earthfolkcollective@gmail.com if you have any leads or housing to offer.
- A camper (with a shower and toilet) as well as a 4 wheel drive vehicle to pull it. Vanessa plans to spend a great deal of time on the road traveling to teach and organize actions.
Vanessa's knowledge will be invaluable going forward in our resistance against pipelines in Virginia. The more we can support her the more available she will be to help us stop the pipelines in Virginia.
LET'S SURPASS OUR GOAL!
