Support Jessica DiLorenzo's Dream of Having Children
Organized by: Jessica's Friends
To family, friends, students, and all who know her, Jessie is a ray of sunshine. In her 32 years, she has touched hearts and inspired children with a positive glow and vibrant personality.
As a beloved school teacher and camp counselor, she’s taught kindergarten and first grade children to love art, appreciate nature, nurture curiosity, and believe in themselves. Jessie’s students adore her and cherish her creative spirit. As a favorite yoga instructor, she’s helped hundreds of adults reach fitness goals, overcome adversity, and find inner peace. Recently married, Jessie and her husband David were excited to start a family and have children of their own, but Jessie’s happily ever after is currently on hold, as she’s battling breast cancer.
Jessie remains courageous and positive, but since she has the BRCA1 mutation, a hereditary genetic disorder, her battle will be a hard fought one. Jessie has already had successful double mastectomy surgery and will begin three to six months of chemotherapy on June 30 at Sloan Kettering in New York City. Jessie will then begin five years of intensive medication therapy and follow-up physician visits. The treatments will help Jessie beat cancer, but will also hinder her ability to carry a baby. Jessie is proactively meeting with fertility specialists in Sarasota to explore options that include freezing eggs, IVF fertilization, and surrogate birth.
Aside from needing your emotional support through her arduous journey, Jessie needs financial assistance. The anticipated expenses from surgery, chemotherapy, doctor and specialist visits, tests, fertility treatments, travel, lost wages, etc., will far exceed what insurance will cover and will result in tens of thousands of dollars in medical expenses. Jessie has the strength, resilience, and optimism to win this fight, but she needs our help.
Remember how great she was with our kids? Now she wants to have children of her own. Let’s help her out. You can lend your support by making a donation here. Thank you!
