Support Mario's fight for his life against hodgkins lymphoma
Organized by: Leah Funderburg
On Friday July 29th our family's lives were changed forever after a month and a half of wondering and worrying about this mysterious lump that formed on Mario's neck a needle biopsy that came back benine, steroids, missing work because he can't turn his neck we went in for an open biopsy within an hour of him being out of surgery the Dr stuck his head in the door and said 2 words that changed everything "hodgkins lymphoma" although I hadn't wanted to admit it I had been researching lymphomas for a couple of weeks and deep down had a feeling it was something very serious. Regardless there is nothing you can do to prepare yourself for news like this my best friend, father of my children, lover, partner in life was going to be in a fight for his life. I am setting up this page because we are struggling financially he has been off work now for almost 5 weeks. I am disabled myself with Ehlers danlos syndrome and surviving on my income alone is difficult with three kids and school starting. He is eligible for disability through his work but it is only a few months and 60% of a full time income he is expected to be off work a minimum of another 5 months and it is still processing at this time he is a forklift driver and palletizer which is extremely hard labor, fast paced position and he is not physically able to do the position especially in a freezer environment. We are falling behind on bills and there are a few holistic treatments we would like to try to speed up his recovery such as an alkaline water filter and a few other supplements that we just can't afford we had to put off our summer weekend getaway we normally take and our children have had a very boring summer stressing and watching us stress about their father. Pet scan has shown that it is 95% treatable with chemo which he started last week as it is localized in his neck. Unfortunately the treatments can be physically devastating and we are now unsure when he will be able to work for sure again it could be longer than the estimated 5 months of treatment. Mario is our main provider so losing his ability to continue working is extremely stressful and devastating to our family.
