Being a 48 year old full-time artist with no investors, no extra funds or better half to help support is difficult, so I am sticking my hand out with my can shaking and promising to pay it forward with my talent. So why am I a full-time artist then? Because I have to be. After a lifetime of drawing and painting and never putting my goals and dreams first, I decided I must. In the spring of this year (2016) living in New Orleans, I had a life-threatening illness sending me quickly to the ER. My family, in the Detroit area, wanted me to come home and I needed them too. I painted for friends to be able to move even with medical bills looming. Arriving in Detroit, things are going great being near family, meeting new friends...painting, creating. Then it starts to fall apart...major car repairs I can't afford, laptop breaks, scraping by to pay for rent, food and pet care and of course the worse part for me is not being able to afford paint and canvases to create a body of artwork. Oh the life of a starving artist! But I am a good artist and I want to thrive...get a step ahead...succeed. So how can you help? Support me as an artist and I will sketch a portrait for someone you know that can use a smile. Someone who may be down on their luck, struggling, feeling a loss or sadness, or maybe someone who would never think that a portrait would be done of them. So many people looking for a simple smile. Once you make your donation, make sure I get your email to contact you for a pic of the person you choose! And not knowing how this works, please email me at with a name, photo and address for the portrait. Please consider enough for supplies, packaging and mailing. My website (so you know I can actually draw!) is Thank you so much for your help and support for an artist and a person needing a smile!
