BENEFITING: Sanctuary for Families
Hi! I am fundraising for Sanctuary for Families, New York's leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence. Each October, Sanctuary holds its 'Above & Beyond' ceremony, to raise support Sanctuary's mission and honor the pro bono attorneys who have made outstanding commitments of time and talent in representing Sanctuary's clients.
I've been working with Sanctuary For Families as a pro bono attorney for as long as I've been a barred New York attorney (eight months and counting!). Combating gender violence, in all its forms, is a cause I care about very deeply, and working with Sanctuary and learning from their staff attorneys is a true honor. I currently work on two matters at Sanctuary, one through their Immigration Intervention Project and another through their Matrimonial and Economic Justice Project. Working for Sanctuary clients enables me to put together skills and lessons I've gathered from my time as a college intern at the Mary Byron Project in Kentucky, as a student-attorney in Michigan Law's Human Trafficking Clinic and Child Advocacy Law Clinic, and as a volunteer clerk at South Africa's Legal Resources Centre. My work for Sanctuary has been challenging and rewarding, and I am so excited to keep on contributing to this organization in every way I can.
On that note, I am thrilled to be a member of Sanctuary's Pro Bono Council, which organizes the amazing Above & Beyond Benefit every year! Please consider joining me in supporting Sanctuary -- a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated!
