One day left as a 30-year-old

BENEFITING: The Other Side Of The Hill Productions Inc
EVENT DATE: Jun 15, 2017
Hello friends! Earlier this year I joined the Board of The Road Theatre, and for my birthday I am looking to raise $1,000 to support their amazing work. Will you join me in this effort?
The Road Theatre Company was founded in 1991 (as The Other Side of the Hill Productions) by a group of dedicated artists who were passionate about bringing new, socially relevant voices and challenging ideas to the American stage. Since then, we have become one of only a handful of companies in Los Angeles that produce new works. Why so few? Because producing new plays is a huge risk. Live theatre can be prohibitively expensive to produce, and producing a show no one has ever heard of presents challenges many theatre producers are reluctant to face. The Road Theatre has been taking on those challenges for over 25 years.
The Road has two venues: a 44-seat black box theatre on Lankershim Boulevard, The Road on Lankershim, and a state-of-the-art 76-seat facility on Magnolia Boulevard, The Road on Magnolia. The size of these spaces creates powerful connections between audiences and performers, but it also limits the number of tickets we can sell to support our art. That leaves us with two choices: Either raise the price of tickets to the point where many of our audience members could no longer afford to attend, or seek additional support, so that we can continue making new plays accessible to all, regardless of their financial status. That's where you come in! As a supporter of The Road, you will be helping us to continue our tradition of producing new works in a powerful, intimate setting in Los Angeles. You'll be helping us keep our ticket prices affordable, making live theatre accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. And you will be helping to give a voice to both new and established playwrights, as well as an extensive company of artists, directors, designers, and technicians who believe, as you do, that theatre is a vital part of our national culture.
