THE STORY:

Hello Everyone,

The Water Protectors and Land Defenders of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and their allies need and deserve our support as they peacefully uphold the Treaty of 1851 which gave them sovereignty over this land and their sacred burial sites.   They are defending against the Dakota Access Pipeline construction which puts the Missouri River in jeopardy.  I can't be there but want to support them by joining this Fundraising Team.  Unfortunately, the Protectors are facing an increase of violence and viciousness plus the coming of winter, but they are not giving up.   So let's support them in whatever way we can.     Please join me in donating $10, $15, $20, $25 or more to help them.   Whatever you can do is greatly appreciated!
Peace and Love,

Sharon

We are in an urgent political moment. Over the last several years, we have seen an increasing commitment, not to renewable energy but instead to creating infrastructure to continue the use of dirty energy. The North Dakota Access Pipeline is a 1,172 mile pipeline, with the capacity to carry 470,000 barrels of oil. What we know, is that it is not a question of if it will break, but when it will break, having profound and enormous threats on people, land and animals. It not only threatens people's drinking water, it also infringes on treaty rights and threatens sacred sites. Indigenous people from all over the country, have begun leading this struggle against dirty energy, to protect people, land and animals. As a delegation, we believe it is important to support Indigenous leadership, because we recognize that the continued colonization and oppression of Indigenous people in our society, signals the continued disempowerment and marginalization of poor, working class, communities of color across the nation. The camp needs to maintain a strong presence through the winter and in the face of escalating violence and brutality. We are calling for general support funds to support this incredible movement against dirty energy and corporate greed. We need to win this fight, and we are asking if you can join, by donating today!
