The 2016 Rio Olympic Games is a wonderful opportunity to unite people from all around the world in the spirit of friendship, mutual respect and understanding. In August 2016, hundreds of thousands of athletes, supporters and volunteers will make the first Latin-American Games the largest sport event of the year. Unfortunately, the Olympic Games has become the privilege of the wealthiest people and only a small portion of the world population benefits from the organization and the legacy of this mega sport event. Many young people in Brazil and elsewhere cannot share the Olympic joy as they lack financial resources to participate in the Games as volunteers or supporters. Especially youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds have no opportunity to take part in the largest sport competition of the year. Their exclusion is contrary to Olympic values which promote fair play and equality. In order to reverse this this saddening trend, the main goal of our Olympic Legacy project is to provide opportunities for some of the least fortunate young sport talents from Brazil, UK and Hungary to benefit from the legacy of the Olympic Games. In the frameworks of the project over 30 youngsters will be part of a youth exchange taking place in Rio de Janeiro during the XXXI Summer Games in August. The main topics of the project concern Olympic education and respect for diversity. The selected young talents will engage in a set of volunteering activities at the venues of the Rio Olympics and they will learn about the core values of the Olympic movement such as respect, excellence and friendship. Due to the high travel, accommodation and catering expenses our project now faces significant difficulties. Especially flight tickets increased the project costs and none of the big airlines offered us discounts for group travel. We approached some of the biggest profit oriented companies but none of them has seen marketing value or commercial interests in our social initiative. The families of our young talents are not able to finance the extra costs since they have low or almost no income. Many of these talents have not been outside their countries due to the lack of opportunities and deprived family background. Now, we are turning to you to support our project and help these guys to make their dreams come true! We are aware of the fact that many of you are not in a position to purchase flight tickets to Rio during the time of Olympics, however we also sincerely hope that you understand and support this important cause which we were all working for months! As we lost our hope in profit oriented companies, it is only you who could help this project to be a successful one. Every cent is appreciated, but in case of donations exceeding 50 US dollars you will receive a signed postcard and letter from our participants! With your help they will be part of this amazing, once in a lifetime experience which should also provide opportunities for the least privileged youngsters of our societies!
