Support Flood Victims in Myanmar
Organized by: Meng H Lin
Heavy monsoon rains and Cyclone Komen resulted in floods, landslides and wind damage across Myanmar. The President U Thein Sein declared four areas as natural disaster zones on 30 July, namely Chin and Rakhine states and Sagaing and Magway regions.
Recent figures from Government's Relief and Resettlement Department shows at least 96 dead and over 590,000 people affected across 12 states and regions as of 8 August. More than 122,200 households have been displaced. Priority needs include food, water and sanitation, access to health care, and provision or repare of shelter.
Your contribution will directly benefit more than 100 villages affected in Magway region (one of the natural disaster zones). The townships covered are Pwintphyu, Sidoktaya and Yaynanchaung. Pwintphyu and Sidoktaya are two the worst affected townships in Magway, according to a recent report by UNOCHA.
Your help will provide essential needs to more than 50,000 villagers residing in Magway through distribution of:
• clean bottled water
• water purification powder
• hygiene kits
• health education sessions
We accept financial contributions online (here) and in-person.
