Support for Madaya
Organized by: Hattie Sinclair
This is a fundraiser to help the Syria Civil Defense (a neutral humanitarian organization that primarily does search and rescue after a bombing) support the besieged town of Madaya, where people have been starving to death. Just yesterday aid was finally allowed into the town, but many are still in desperate need of help. The situation is so bad that even the members of SCD are donating their small monthly stipend to the cause. The best part about this is that 100% of your donations will go directly to the people of Madaya- there is no overhead since this is a grassroots effort created by people very familar with the situation (to be clear this is a fundraiser initially created by SCD, so the money is going directly to support the people of Madaya, not SCD). If we are lucky enough that we raise over $1500, we are going to use the rest to support a refugee family (or two!) here in Gaziantep, many of whom left everything behind when they fled Syria.
Many thanks to all of you for your constant support and love for us, and for always asking what you can do to help. I know a lot of you feel helpless about the situation, as do I, but this really is a great way to make a difference. Feel free to share this, and remember that no amount is too small to donate.
