BENEFITING: Gray Cardinal Foundation
The Gray Cardinal Foundation was named for a girl we met in an orphanage. Although an orphan, she was extremely articulate, funny, and kind. She could sing, dance and had a smile that lit up the room- a typical yet extraordinary teenager!
When our team asked the social worker to describe her, she told us:
"She is like a gray cardinal. You know the type- not that noticeable, not that special."
Aside from being stunned by the description of a child who was clearly amazing in many ways, we were struck by the reality that all of the children we met in goverment care were really Gray Cardinals.
Children who are completely innocent by nature and circumstance, being forgotten as precious, by the majority of the world.
These remarkable kids are often left in children homes and foster care, losing hope of ever being loved or cared for by a family. Their statistics of ever being adopted start dropping rapidly by the age of 4. (Too old at 4 to have a family! Do you know any 4 year olds? Can you even imagine them being too old for your love?)
Their chances of survival once they "age out" of the system are horrific- many commit suicide, turn to drugs and prostitution or live on the streets. Why? Because they were born into the wrong family or the wrong circumstances- thins over which they had no control.
Please support The Gray Cardinal Foundation in advocacy for older and special needs orphans- the most overlooked of the gray cardinals. Your donation will help us give them individualized care, attention and educational opportunities.
Help them become the soaring beautiful cardinals they were meant to be- flying, living and being loved in the light.
