Send a Community Changemaker to the historic National Gathering by contributing to this crowdfunding campaign!
These hard-working, dedicated community leaders just need a little support to attend the National Gathering. Read their bios below, and click on one of the individual profiles at the bottom of the page to donate directly to support that person's trip to the Gathering.
Donations not assigned to an indivudal will be used for general conference support (which is also greatly appreciated!).
The Transition Movement is a worldwide network of citizen-powered groups who are using community action to engage neighbors, transform their communities and create a world that's more nourishing, fulfilling, ecologically sustainable and socially just. Your support helps realize that vision.
This summer, Transition U.S. is holding the first-ever national gathering of Transition groups in the United States. “Growing a Movement for Resilient Communities: Broadening, Deepening, and Scaling Up" will be held July 27-31 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Transition members and community leaders from across the country will gather to make connections, share knowledge, and generate strategies to address the national and global challenges we face.
Take the step and sponsor a community resilience leader to attend a Transition gathering and be part of the financial wind that makes this event possible. Thank you!
Help bring these inspiring community leaders to the Transition US National Gathering:
NINA SMOLYAR is the coordinator for the New England Resilience and Transition (NERT) Network: "I am excited to connect with activists around the nation, in building our collective vision of resilient, equitable, and ecologically sound communities. I will share experiences of Transition work in New England and bring back to New England what I learn at the gathering. I have also been accepted into the Movement Strategy Session leadership retreat, designed for more in-depth strategizing to grow the movement. My fundraising goal is $1,100 to cover transportation, lodging, and meals during my week in the Twin Cities. Your support will enable a more networked, trained, committed, and inspired Transition movement coordinator, and more effective contribution towards building thriving communities in New England.
BONNIE BORUCKI has been volunteering her time towards making her community a healthier, more equitable place to live for over a decade: "Through Transition Berkeley I have organized crop swaps and spread the word about global environmental, and local economic and social justice issues. I have educated myself on balancing the need for low-income housing and green space against market-driven development, as a committee member of Friends of Adeline and the Berkeley Climate Action Coalition. I am currently the coordinator of a successful 13-year old urban permaculture oasis providing a community learning space and food for local residents. I see a need in my community for social connection and real physical support in terms of healthy food, housing and healthcare. I would like to learn how to be more effective in working to meet these needs while maintaining the balance in my own life by sharing experiences with other neighborhood organizers. I need to raise $400 of the estimated costs ($800) of my travel, meals and lodging."
