BENEFITING: DANBURY CHILDREN FIRST INC
Danbury Children First sponsors educational leadership programs for parents. These include The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) and People Empowering People (PEP). The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) informs parents on how to become leading advocates and change agents for children. The program bolsters parental involvement while promoting the lifelong health, safety, and learning of children. Parents complete a 20-week program with a curriculum that includes children's issues, leadership, and democracy skills. People Empowering People (PEP) is a 10-week program offered in Spanish. It focuses on communications, problem solving, parenting, community issues, and civics. It gives parents the opportunities and resources to gain experiences and skills while taking greater control of their lives. The curriculum was developed the UConn Cooperative Extension System.
