Supporting Sherry fight through Aneurysm
Organized by: Barbara Sanders
Sherry is a very good and loving friend. As many of you know Sherry had a ruptured aneurysm and stroke a month ago and She is in the ICU. The hemorrhage was very large, they were able to coil the aneurysm and stop any further damage, however due to swelling they had to remove a large portion of her skull that they will put back in about 6 months. Sherry has been intubated and probably will be for a little while. She is able to respond to commands such as squeeze my hand, thumbs up, wiggle your toes, etc. Her right side is paralyzed for the most part, but she is having some sporadic feeling/movement. There is some concern that her speech may be affected but hopefully with rehab/therapy that will resolve. To add more fuel to the fire, Sherry also has a blood infection which has been cooking for approximately 9 months, causing her to have endocarditis (infectious growth on her heart valve). The infection is being treated with strong IV antibiotics which will hopefully get rid of the endocarditis. Once the infection has been cleared up the doctors will then be able to acess the functionality of her valve, which, incidentally, was replaced when he was a child. Most likely Sherry will be in the ICU for months, then rehab for however long is needed. I have been friends with Sherry and her family for many years and we can't even begin to imagine what they must be going through. Anything that you are able to donate will be hugely appreciated, not only by myself and friends, but by Sherry and her family as well. Sherry is a fighter, she and her family need to focus on getting her better, nothing else, so let's help them out by taking some of the worry away!! Thank you all for your help, love and prayers...
