BENEFITING: INTREPID FALLEN HEROES FUND
EVENT DATE: Sep 11, 2016
This weekend I will be competing in the Nation's Triathlon in Washington, D.C. This is my first Olympic distance triathlon (1.5KM swim, 40KM bike, 10KM run).
UPDATE: The swim portion was unfortunately canceled by race officials due to water safety conditions making this a biathalon
Given the significance of the date (September 11, 2016, fifteen years from 9/11) I would like to use this race to honor American troops who have made sacrifices to protect our freedom. In order to do this, I have decided to donate to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund provides support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. Support includes the operation of a physical rehabilitation center at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, and the operation of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), a center that provides the most advanced services for diagnostics, initial treatment plan and family education, introduction to therapeutic modalities, referral and reintegration support for military personnel and veterans with TBI and psychological health conditions. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is also currently in the process of construction an additional nine "Intrepid Spirit" Centers which will act as satellite centers to the NICoE in order to allow troops to be closer to home.
I am pledging to donate a dollar for every minute that the triathlon takes me (Goal is 180 minutes). I invite you to help me with my fundraising goal and support our troops whose selfless sacrifices allow us to live in the greatest country in the world.
Thank you for all your help!
