Supporting Nepali women entrepreneurs
Organized by: Anu Lohani
Kirtan and I are running the Chicago Marathon this year to support FWEAN (Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal, http://www.fwean.org.np/). FWEAN works with women in both urban and rural sectors by assessing existing skills and resources within the community, then providing tools (training, finance and marketing services) to build or support existing business.
Financing is provided through collateral free business loans. Women in Nepal typically do not own property, commonly used as collateral to raise capital, limiting their ability to start a business. The organization also provides micro-financing to encourage women in villages to work together and start business ventures. This financial push, along with the training and support through the network helps more women become self-confident and financially independent.
Our goal is to raise $ 3500 to assist FWEAN to continue expanding its reach throughout the country and beyond. Please support us. Any amount would go a long way! If your one time contribution would help generate employment and earnings on a consistent basis – isn’t that a beautiful thing?
