Located in New York State's Hudson Valley, the Women's Studio Workshop operates and maintains an artists’ workspace that encourages the voice and vision of individual women artists, provides professional opportunities for artists at various stages of their careers, and promotes programs designed to stimulate public involvement, awareness, and support for the visual arts. WSW maintains facilities for etching, letterpress, papermaking, book arts, silkscreen, 3D work, ceramics, and photography. In the past forty-one years,
Women’s Studio Workshop has:
● spent over $4,000,000 supporting women artists and interns;
● helped artists produce over 10,250 handmade artists’ books;
● taught over 6,500 local public school students in our studios; and
● remained the only arts organization to support women exclusively.
All of this grew out of a modest grant of $2,800 in 1974.
Now, WSW is in the process of doubling our capacity for artists so that we can continue to provide unique artistic and career opportunities for women.
