The Safari Simbaz Trust aims to unearth hidden talent and develop world class athletes within underprivileged children in disadvantaged communities around Nairobi, Kenya. They provide support structures to enable these youths to fulfill their biking dreams and help rebuild their communities though alternative career paths like tour guides and bike mechanics.
Capitalizing on the power of the bike and Kenya’s renowned endurance pedigree, they cut the rough diamond of these future champions providing instruction in modern training techniques. The very best athletes will train to become full time cyclists for the Safari Simbaz Racing Team. Everyone benefits from the discipline instilled through training and competing as well as the highly marketable mechanics skills, no matter the level of their racing.
The Safari Simbaz are in desperate need of equipment of sufficient enough quality to enable them to compete in local and international events. The Simbaz are often invited to top races across Africa and beyond. With better resources, equipment and training facilities these athletes can achieve even better results.
**This is a cause near and dear to Nolan and my hearts!! We are friends with David Kinjah who is the man behind this mission and bike with him when we are in Kenya. He literally houses all the teams riders at his own house while ensuring they are feed, provided for and trained etc.**
David Kinjah: The Safari Simbaz project is the brainchild of David Kinjah, Kenya’s most experienced and decorated cyclist. Under his tutelage, the team has become the winningest cycling team in Kenyan history. Kinjah, a cycling legend in Africa, is an indefatigable man of infectious energy. He has for the last ten years, dedicated his bike mechanic earnings, race winnings and his own residence to developing potential young Simbaz from the streets. He has ridden professionally in Europe in the past and won countless events across Africa.
***Your donation can help in a HUGE way!! Safari Simbaz are in need of money for food, bikes, spare parts such as shifters, derailluers, cranksets, chains, pedals, tires, tubes, bike computers, kits, helmets, eyewear, gloves, shoes etc.***
