BENEFITING: Kids Cancer Alliance Inc.
Over 22 years ago, my family got the disheartening news that I was diagnosed with cancer. I was just an average 12 year old, with days full of doing homework and playing outside, but I was thrust into a whole new world of needles, hospital stays, and fear of what the future would bring. Looking back, I was very lucky to have a network of loving support from those around me, and a special little camp of only about 30 kids named Indian Summer camp. It was a place where no one looked twice if you were bald or had any other scars from your battle. Where everyone just understood what you were dealing with. Over time, that small camp has grown into a powerful alliance of support for the next generation of kids dealing with similar circumstances to mine. That camp of 30 kids that has been so near and dear to so many of our hearts, has become so much more. Kids Cancer alliance now offers not only Indian Summer Camp (now at over 110 kids), but also a Family Retreat, a Teen Weekender, a Sibling Camp, multiple In-Hospital programs, Survivor Scholarships, Quarterly Events, and so much more! Most importantly, all of these programs are at no cost to the families, and no child has ever been turned away from camp. These programs, and this network of support is crucial to these families in their fight, and I want nothing more than to see them continue for further generations of kids that share my experience. For all of you out there that know me and supported my family during our darkest time, and to those friends I haven't met yet, I call on you to donate what you can to help these families. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any little amount you are able to give to help the community in it's fight to end cancer. PLEASE SHARE WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND SUPPORT KIDS WITH CANCER TODAY!
