Helping L Help Herself and Her Kids

Meet L.  Just over a year ago, she and her six kids relocated to a new home to get away from L's husband, the father of her kids.  H is a heavy drinker, was verbally abusive and on the verge of becoming physically abusive to her. He often failed to get the kids to school after L was off to work for 7 a.m.  She had become the sole provider with her income as a certified nurse's aide. The decision to leave was a difficult one but the straw that broke the camel's back was when her husband allowed his heroin-addicted son (not L's son) to live with them.

She refused to allow her children to be exposed to a using drug addict. Secretly she found a small house that she could rent on her own and made plans to move. She had to keep the whole plan a secret, even from her children, in order to make it a success.  It was.

A year later, their home is much more peaceful. L is now divorced from the father of her children (recently filed for divorce - WE'LL WORD THIS BASED ON WHAT/WHEN WE DECIDE TO DO).  H accuses L of being a bad mother because she broke up the family -- even though he drinks, lies, rarely works, and has even stolen from them. Since he lost the stability that L was providing, he has become a homeless couch surfer.

L needs our help.  I am working on this fundraiser to help give L a financial cushion of sorts. Her income is stretched to the limit -- even with assistance for food and basics. She could use this buffer to hire a driver from time to time when she has six kids going in different directions in one evening, to go to counseling or take the kids to counseling, to buy new shoes when one of the kids needs them, to pay a legal bill, to buy a birthday present, to take a day off.  The list goes on.

Take a moment to donate whatever amount works for you.  It will be most appreciated and put to good use.

The photos for this fundraiser are anonymous to prevent L's ex-husband H from finding out about it and harassing her.  Because they are now legally divorced and he is required by law to pay child support, he will have no legal right to this money.
