BENEFITING: MELANOMA RESEARCH FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Oct 28, 2014
I've recently gotten involved with the Melanoma Research Foundation - the largest independent organization dedicated to melanoma. The MRF has graciously devoted some of their resources to ocular melanoma over the past few years.
Ocular melanoma occurs in only 6 out of 1 million people each year - and the liklihood of a young person developing the disease is only 3 in 1 million. While treatment for primary ocular tumors has improved greatly, there is still no cure for metasatic ocular melanoma. Essentially, if the cancer spreads, it's terminal. You can read more information about OM here.
The MRF is hosting a Wings of Hope for Melanoma Gala in Philly this year and I'd like to ask for your help in supporting the event. Funds raised will be used both for education to encourage disease prevention and early treatment, as well as for research grants awarded to scientists studying new theraputic treatments. If you're interested in purchasing tickets, you can do so here.
Thank you so much for your consideration and help!
