The University of Michigan Women's ice hockey team operates as a club which participates in intercollegiate competition within the CCWHA (Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association) and the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association. We are a competitive team, however, we also have a lot of fun. As a club team, members pay to play and coaches volunteer. The team is comprised of 20 members: 2 goalies, and 18 skaters. Games are on weekends. The season runs from tryouts at the end of September to CCWHA playoffs at the end of February. There is also a national tournament in March. Ability varies from player to player, but we encourage all students at the University to try out each fall, regardless of past experience.
The University of Michigan Men’s Club Hockey Team is a Division II member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) that comprises over 150 members’ teams nationwide. Michigan competes during the regular season in the Great Midwest Hockey League (GMHL). The Men's Ice Hockey Club team is run by the elected officers who perform various duties such as budgeting, scheduling, recruiting, fundraising and securing lodging for road trips. We generally have two practices a week and play games on the weekend. The philosophy of the team is a simple one, work hard, have fun and most importantly your studies and academics come first.
