BENEFITING: Midori & Friends
Did you know? There are 1.1 million NYC public school students, and more than half of them do not have access to music and the arts.
For more than 20 years, Midori & Friends has changed kids' lives by offering free instrument instruction, concerts, and workshops led by professional musicians in underserved public schools throughout NYC. And we need your help to continue to inspire thousands of students annually. Please donate and give the transformative gift of music that sparks joy and creativity in our students and instills lifelong values that develop them into proud and confident young people. A gift of any amount sets the stage for our students' success and ensures that they can achieve any goal.
Watch the video posted at left on this page to see an example of one of our students, Ethan, from a public school in Queens. In the 4th grade, Ethan picked up the saxophone for the first time in a Midori & Friends music class at his school. A year and a half later, Midori & Friends presented CityMusic, a concert to celebrate our young, new musicians, where Ethan performed on one of NYC's most prestigious stages with a living jazz legend. In front of a packed house at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Ethan played a duet with jazz great Jon Faddis.
