Support Our Todd
Organized by: Samantha Huston
Todd Huston is currently undergoing aggressive treatment for Stage IV nasopharyngeal cancer. Todd has continuously lived a self-less and caring life. He is a veteran of the US Navy and served in Desert Storm. Even though he is a full-time employee with medical insurance, Todd and his wife, Linda, find themselves staring down some enormous health care costs. Today, we -- his family and friends -- are asking you to help ease these financial strains. But first, let us tell you about this exemplary man, who is defined by so much more than this disease.
Todd wears many hats in life (including the baseball hat which is always affixed to his head). Aside from his service to our country aboard the USS America, Todd is a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He roots for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his alma mater MHS Bombers. Before his current employment at NTN Bower, Todd worked at the Bushnell Tank Company and as an auto mechanic in Jacksonville, FL. Todd is the type of kindred spirit to always lend a helping hand without asking for anything in return. Flooded basements, busted cars and over-grown lawns are just a few of the myriad tasks Todd remedies for his friends and family on a regular basis.
Todd is 46 years old and until recently has always been in perfect health. Towards the end of last winter, he noticed a growth on the side of his neck. After several rounds of exploratory tests, the oncologists informed him he had nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a rare, but treatable form of head-neck cancer. Since the cancer was in Stage IV, an aggressive treatment plan was quickly but thoroughly implemented. The plan consisted of teeth extraction, chemotherapy, radiation and so forth. Although Todd and Linda have health insurance, these treatment efforts have been very costly and have required them to dip deeply into their savings.
Even now, in the middle of painful and exhausting treatments, Todd never utters a disparaging word. Moreover, Todd and Linda would never want to trouble people by asking for financial assistance, which is why we, his friends and family, are taking the initiative.
