Support Our WIDOWS
Organized by: Sam ODUSOLU
Hello, Thanks for checking on our clarion call. In appreciation to the awards and accolades I've received from both the local and International communities for my contribution to putting smile on the faces of the under privileged, which could never have been possible else for the supports I received from people like you, I have decided to pay back by going a step further in my cause to be giving monthly stipends of $50.00 each to 100 widows in my area. This being a test run. If it is achievable, we will increase the number of recipients progressively. Introduction: Africa is such a vast area that is well known in the globe. And Nigeria being the 'Giant of Africa' leads in several spheres. One among these according to our available records and statistics are the suffering widows around us. No doubt a good percentage of our widows are not just living a widow's life, rather a very wretched one. Or what can we say of our mothers who have single handedly spent their agile and youthful life on us to survive and be one to reckon with, unfortunately the economic situation of our society is so unfavourable that we couldn't pay them back for all they've done for us. As a paternal orphan, I had this bitter experience when I lost my father way back in 2010 while in my final year in the University. It was so tough that I almost my dream in life. All thanks to my mom who stood by me till I graduated, got married and become a man. Thank GOD I'm being able to give her some level of happiness now, but what about several other single mothers (widows) who are so unfortunate to reap the fruits of their hard labour. To these widows, I have decided to launch this new cause. Plan: Already, we have been giving 100 widows a quarterly stipend of $50 each. This is possible courtesy of a bi-monthly bob-a-job exercise carried out by my team. But realising this as not being enough, we have worked out a plan to raise a substantial amount between now and the end of January so that we can start executing our new plan by February. Strategy: To achieve this set plan, we have officially written to some governmental and private agencies, and they have promised their supports. We will also continue with our bob-a-job services and other possible services that we can render to the community. Also, going by our target of having 1,000 widows from far and near on our pay slip by December 2016, we have tried to extend our tentacles to bigger Non-Governmental Organisations, many of who really buy into our cause. And finally, we are on this platform beckoning for your philanthropic support to the success and realisation of this project. Beneficiaries: The beneficiaries of this task will remain widows. Widows that are above 60years of age and who has a little or no source of income. We have them very much here in Africa, and Nigeria is among the top list of countries that has these widows. It is not a task that can be left for the government alone to handle. Hence we have decided to start with the grass-root widows, then we will gradually progress to other areas. Clarion call: If I can do it to the extent of receiving a lot of accolades in the past, I strongly believe that with you, this our quest to put smiles on the faces of our widows will be a success. So, we shall be grateful if you can PLEASE come to our aide.
