Thank You So Much

My name is Richard Hoge, Jr. and I’m 14 years old. Last school year, I was diagnosed with ADHD and mild learning differences. Despite this, I have been accepted to the Miller School of Albemarle in Virginia. I will be entering the 9th grade and will be a 5-day boarding student. I expect that this will be a great experience for me because I will be able to continue to learn in a supportive high school environment. I believe this will lead me to success in the future. With your help, the monies raised in this fundraiser will help my family afford the cost of my tuition, room/board, books, fees, and supplies. I am excited about going back to school in August and experiencing dorm life in the Miller School of Albemarle community!
My Learning Differences\Disorder:
I have mild learning differences in reading and writing and mild to moderate learning differences in math. I also have ADHD disorder inattentive type. Learning hasn't ever been easy for me but now that I know that I have these issues I am more understanding of myself and the ways that I learn.
The tools that I use to help me to learn better are the Livescribe Smart Pen, Learning Ally, and teacher/tutor support.
Livescribe Smart Pen
This pen records everything I write with it during class. It also records the teachers voice during class. When I need to go over the lesson again during homework time I just put my pen on the paper where I was writing and the pen plays back whatever was said in class. It can also show me a copy of what I wrote on the computer. I am lucky to have a tool like this, my mom found it really cheap on Craigslist.
Almost any book that I need I can download it and listen to it from Learning Ally. Listening to the book and reading it at the same time helps me to better understand the book.
I enjoy bicycling, muscle cars, and my betta fish.
I live with my mom and dad and I'm the 4th of 5 children. I am the only boy. Yikes!
