Anyone who has ever met Sasha can immediately see that she is not like most people. She is a fighter. She loves fearlessly and pushed herself beyond limits of what most thought possible.
Sasha was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia (CML) when she was a junior in high school. The best treatment for survival - the only treatment for survival - was a successful bone marrow transplant. Sasha and her family relocated from Florida to Seattle, where this treatment was available for her form of leukemia. However there were no bone marrow matches in her family, her community, her state or even her country. Her bone marrow match came from a man in France; his bone marrow combined with her determination and strength saved her life. She just celebrated her 22nd "birth day" - 22 years since her bone marrow transplant.
She has an amazing, loving and supportive husband, Dave and a gorgeous and sweet little boy, Jack. Jack is a happy, energetic toddler that has brought even more love and light into Sasha's life.
Sadly, less than three weeks ago, Sasha was diagnosed with breast cancer. Additional tests revealed that it was a very aggressive form of breast cancer and treatment was needed immediately. Just as they did years ago, her family - within a week – relocated, this time to Houston to begin treatment at MD Anderson. She had surgery on August 3 - and words can't express how thrilled everyone was to find out that the cancer had not spread. However she has a long road of chemotherapy ahead of her and she and her family will remain in Houston for the duration of treatment.
As everyone knows Sasha is a generous, caring and loving woman, mother, wife and friend. This fundraiser is meant to help raise money for her family to assist with medical bills and living expenses while she recovers.
