Send an American farmer to help train Tanzanian farmers
Organized by: Austin Leefers
My name is Austin, and I grew up on a small family farm in rural Illinois. I have done everything from shoveling manure to the accounting for our farm. I am thankful to have learned so much from my family of farmers. I want to use these skills to improve the lives of small farmers in Tanzania.
Starting in August 2015, I will be working for the 2Seeds Network, spending a year in a rural village. With our Tanzanian partners, we will work together to find solutions to improve their food security and raise their income. Our Tanzanian partners will then be able to decide how to use the income to better the lives of their families. The goal is to build the skills of our partner farmers so they can teach their children and their neighbors. These skills will allow the farmers to become community leaders in their own right, thriving long after 2Seeds has finished its work.
Additionally, I plan to focus on teaching forestry, improving farm conservation practices, and training our partners to evaluate the effectiveness of new processes. I believe these will help our farmers adapt to the changing environment and preserve their way of life.
Please donate to my fundraiser to support the training of small farmers to increase their foods security and income in Tanzania.
