In August of 1997, at the age of 49, my mother Cindy lost her two year battle with cervical cancer. Had she maintained a schedule of yearly screenings and check-ups, it might have been caught earlier and she would have likely survived. Thankfully, there is an organization like National Cervical Cancer Coalition that is doing great work to educate women on the importance of yearly pap smears. NCCC also supports patients and their family and friends as they face the very personal issues that come from the battle with cervical cancer. I am running this 5K in memory of my mother and in support of prevention. Please consider a gift to the NCCC in Cindy's name so that we can help make sure that other women don't have to leave their loved ones so early.
