Hi friends and family! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for GENaustin's 180 Program. I have been volunteering with GENaustin for about 6 months, and it's an amazing organization doing great work to empower young girls (something that you all know I care TONS about!). Their mission is to support and guide girls to make wise choices as they navigate the unique pressures of girlhood. If you'd like to read more about GENaustin and the incredible work they're doing, visit their website: www.genaustin.org.
Please take a minute to read about the 180 Program (see below) and donate if you can. I'm hoping to raise $400, which would sponsor 5 girls in the program. Thanks for your support!
When Jasmine was 14 years old, her father became incarcerated and she was kicked out of her abusive home. She moved in with her aging grandmother in a different neighborhood. In her new school, Jasmine sought out friends and was immediately introduced to drugs. Responding to the pressure to fit in, and the desire to feel better, she began to use drugs, and ultimately wound up in court for possession. After completing GENaustin’s 180 Program for court-ordered girls, Jasmine re-engaged with school and her academics, and found the confidence to be herself.
GENaustin’s 180 Program reaches many girls after a first offense and helps them get back on track, preventing them from entering or re-entering the juvenile justice system. Each of the 8-week group sessions includes a curriculum that focuses on developing girls’ bonding, goal-setting skills, self-esteem, mental health, attachment to school, violence prevention, issues with authority and substance abuse prevention.
But so many girls cannot afford the program fee - and it’s just $80 for 8 weeks! Please make a donation to help ONE or MORE girls. Your scholarship donation could turn a girl’s life around.
Girls are the fastest growing population in the juvenile justice system today. Research shows that programs which intervene after the first or second offense are the most effective at preventing future high-risk behaviors.
Please make a donation and turn a girl’s life around!
