Support the Mangan Family

In December of 2015 doctors found an abnormality on our 20-week ultrasound. Low fluid levels caused by an obstructed urethra caused stunted lung development and damaged kidneys. After being referred to a specialist, I (Amanda) underwent rounds of testing to determine if the baby was able to be saved. This resulted in an operation that returned the fetal environment to 'normal' and gave baby Donovan a chance for development in utero. Without the finding, Donovan would not have survived after birth due to an underdeveloped respiratory system. Following the operation, the pregnancy was uncertain for some time, and now (I'm 30 weeks along) doctor's believe we can go to term and Donovan has a good chance to survive birth! If Donovan is a respiratory survivor, the state of his kidneys will determine the next step for our family. One of his kidneys is non-funtional, and we are praying that his one good kidney works in all the ways it should so we can return home after a short stay in NICU. However, if this kidney cannot clean his blood, Donovan will stay at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital NICU for approx. 6 months receiving care and dialysis before full-time home care leading to a kidney transplant around age 2.
Our family is preparing for baby Donovan's return to our home in Fort Wayne, but is also aware that we may be moving to Cincinnati or Indianapolis to be near the neonatal nephrology center where Donovan will need care if his kidney is not good.
6 weeks before Donovan's due date I am moving to Cincinnati to be seen 2x/week at the University of Cincinnati Hospital where Donovan will be delivered. Daniel (husband) and Cullen (son) will stay in Fort Wayne, and hopefully visit on the weekends. We are hoping that the Ronald McDonald House has room for our family, and will live in hotels until we can get in. My father will be staying with me until I am no longer the patient (when Donovan is born), or shortly thereafter.
We hope to ease the financial strain of medical bills, travel expenses, housing expenses, and possible loss of employment and relocation for our family, by reaching out for support. If there is any extra funding we will be donating it to the Ronald McDonald House where we stayed.
Your genorosity means a lot to us; no donation is too small. Thank you!
Please note your contribution may not be tax deductible, I am not clear on the rules!
