THE STORY:

Surfing is more than just a sport- it is a unifying force, an unwavering equalizer and a tool for empowerment. Over years of work through our socially-driven surf organizations, Waves of Freedom, A Liquid Future, Beyond the Surface International, Little Seeds Surf Coaching and Salt Gypsy, we are collaborating to host the world's first global Surf + Social Good Summit this May in Bali, Indonesia. We have seen the impact that surfing can have on empowering individuals (particularly young women and girls) and local and global communities.

The Summit aims to bring together stakeholders from surf industry, business, academia, civil society, and non-profit to collaborate on best practices, identify challenges and opportunities for the field, and create an action plan through a global platform. The platform will "house" this specialized and mission-driven network, launching coordinated efforts (ranging from action initiatives to research studies) to hone in on advancing the power of surfing for social good.

As a burgeoning field, this Summit is truly the launch of a movement. Previously acting independently or simply without the support of like-minded groups, actors in the space need to connect, collaborate, and enact our collective vision for a better future. Our goal is to create the spark that fuels a global awakening for coordinated, innovative social development. We want you to be a part of this movement. Together, we can make this happen!

Supporting the Summit can happen at many levels, we're looking for support in any way you can help:
Level 1- Full Summit Sponsor ($5k +)
Have your individual or organization's name fully branded throughout the event and all associated marketing. All social media, event materials and presentations, and workshop discussions will all be co-branded with you. Invitation to participate in Summit activities and opportunity to engage in the outcomes from the Summit.

Level 2- Targeted Summit Sponsor ($1k +)
Based on a particular interest of yours, pick and choose a workshop, a panel discussion, an activity or a reception event that aligns with your particular interests. If you are an advocate of empowering young girls (like we are!) perhaps you chose to sponsor part of the Girls Make Waves action day (day 2) and help us focus on how surfing can be a particularly specialized tool for supporting girls around the world.

Level 3- Special Sponsor ($500 +)
Support the Summit generally or with a particular focus (ex: support travel costs for low-income/developing nation female surfers to participate in the GMW Day) and have your name branded on event materials throughout the three days.

Level 4- Active Sponsor ($100+)
Support us to put the final touches on the event and make it a success and we will be sure to thank you by shout outs throughout the event, include you in our 'Active Sponsors of the Summit' list to be shared during and after the event and the opportunity to join our newsletter for regular updates.

Level 5 - Friend of the Summit (< $100)

The ocean is made of drops! Yes, every little drop will help to keep this community for surf + social good growing during and beyond the Summit and we will include you in our 'Friends of the Summit' list to be shared during and after the event and the opportunity to join our newsletter for regular updates.

Support for the summit will go towards:

Priority Areas:

  • Media production - video recording of full summit to maximze long-term impact and share the Summit findings
  •  Girls Make Waves Day- providing travel assistance for young surfers to attend, surf supplies and equipment, and workshop supplies

General Summit Support:

  • Workshop supplies for full Summit such as printouts, workbooks, and other distribution materials
  • Technology rentals for projectors, microphones, etc.
  • Food and beverages between sessions

Support can come at any level and in exchange for your support we offer sponsorship packages, depending on one of five suggested levels. Help us truly make waves and deliver impact!

Our agenda for the three days is:
Day 1- Inspire+Connect to broaden perspectives on surf and social good
Create +Collaborate to identify opportunities and solutions
• Share solution prioritization

Day 2- Girls Make Waves Action Day- Specialized workshops, surf lessons, expert speakers connecting and growing the community of global female surfers

Day 3- Impact Lab - Session to establish knowledge needs for surf for development, and set agenda for Summit- initiated research projects
• Summit Wrap-Up

Surfing is more than just a sport- it is a unifying force, an unwavering equalizer and a tool for empowerment. As I cannot attend ,and spend more than half my life on the oceans of the world , I wanted to show my support to the amazing job you are all doing ,in making the world more aware of the perils we all face as the oceans become more and more toxic. Raising conscious awareness on every level is just the beginning . GREAT WORK! 2 years ago
