Werku Golle NEEDS OUR HELP!
Imprisoned for 13 months for his faith during the Communist Regime in Ethiopia, Werku Golle has lived an incredible life for Christ! Now 65 years old and responsible for creating our Church Planter Sponsorship program that has over 147 Ethiopian Church Planter families deployed to the field, Werku NEEDS OUR HELP!
A congenital narrowing in his lower back around his spinal cord has resulted in a terrible health situation that threatens Werkus ability to ever walk again! He is now here in the U.S. scheduled for surgery on March 7th. Depending on the results of his preoperative assessment on March 1st, Werku may need heart surgery as well.
Here is Werku's life testimony:
Werku Golle was born September 1950 in Dilla, Ethiopia where he attained his elementary and high school education. His collegian studies were at Ethiopia Theological Institute, and are a graduate of Jima Bible Institute, Ethiopia.
Werku furthered his education in Management and Development through courses in the USA, England, New Zealand, South Korea, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Kenya. He has also studied World Missions in South Korea and England, as well as, the Holy Lands in Israel.
He has been the director of the evangelism ministries development program for Gedeo Zone Kale Heywot Church for the past 44 years. The Gedeo Zone KHC church actively supports evangelists, rural agricultural programs, child care programs, HIV and health programs, provision of safe and adequate water, women's training, and school construction. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the Kale Heywot Churches nationally which has over five (5) million members.
Werku founded and has been director of the Kale Heywot Church Ministry Training College for 20 years. This college, in Dilla, is a national ministry training college for all of Ethiopia. The majority of New Covenant Foundation Church Planters have graduated from this college!
He serves as a committee member of Ethiopian Kale Heywot Church Development Program, the Chairman of United Kale Heywot Churches Fellowship of Gedeo/Borena Zones, and Chairman of Southern Ethiopian Regional Kale Heywot Church Fellowship.
During the former communist regime, from 1974 to 1992, Werku was imprisoned for over 13 months because of his strong church leadership and religious influence within the Gedeo Region. During this time, his love for the Lord and his people was not discouraged. To the contrary, he became even more burdened in the quest for an improved quality of life for his people.
Werku has been married to the bride of his youth, Hallelujah, for 43 years. They have 8 children, 3 sons and 5 daughters. Werku accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at a very young age, and felt God’s calling into full-time ministry in his teens. His passion for evangelism and serving where the Lord leads are an inspiration to all.
